Tips On Taking Care of Chinchillas

Someone asked me before, "How can I take a good care of my chins? I'm still a newbie." Well, if you had another pets like dogs, cats or birds before you would have known exactly what to do. But I'm guessing, this person does not have any experience at all. I can give a few tips on how I take care of my chinchillas and perhaps, if you're reading this, you can apply this tips on your chins as well.

Younger chinchilla usually can handle temperatures even up to 30C. However, the older ones needs consistent temperature that shouldn’t go below 14C or above 24C because they can have a stroke from heat. If you can’t even provide this for your chinchilla, I suggest do not even bother taking on the poor animal as you will be killing it slowly.

Secondly, I do not yell at my chinchilla. I don’t play the TV or music too loud, or place my chinchillas near any loud animals like dogs. Do you know chinchilla have acute hearing? They are very sensitive to sound. They can startled and be afraid of loud noises. This alone will overall affect their mental and physical condition. So ensure that you don't place them somewhere too hot or too loud. This animal are the epitome of "peacefulness" and "happiness".

As for the food, my chinchillas are army guys. They love having their own routines. They need to be fed the same time each day and I do not mix their food a lot. They require basic proteins found in dry grass and hay, therefore treats can be given from time to time on small amounts. The thing is that chinchillas are rodents and they will eat and nod at everything they see. In some cases they will swallow, which can lead to some dangerous situations for your chinchillas life. So make sure that any toys you give them are from plain wood. No plastic, no wiring and no paint.

Chinchilla Facts On Pregnancy and The Kits

One of my girlfriend's chinchillas got pregnant recently. Two cute Kits were born. One of the Kits were given to her younger sister. A chinchilla pregnancy is expected to be over 100 days, 110 days maximum including gestation. Unlike human who gives birth any time of the day, their kind gives birth during the day only (especially early morning). The Kits are always minutes apart when born. My girlfriend's Kits were covered with fur, eyes open and they weigh 2 ounces. These little kits are active from their birth. They can play and run amazingly.

A mother can bear a maximum of six Kits but for a smaller size, two is the standard amount (just like my girlfriend's chinchilla). Like any other mothers, they are very protective of their babies. My girlfriend told me once that her chin was pretty aggressive when it came to her Kits, giving best protection from threats, and she gave milk from her own. Males are different in having babies, few are seen supportive for their female partner, it also protects the baby but there are some are aggressive and can kill their Kits.

With the help of the mother chinchilla, baby Kits will eat solid food after one week. Up to eight weeks, they are still being fed with milk. Slowly the mother lowers the supply of milk to wean them and expose them to eating proper foods. Then, these little chinchillas are prepared for staying a new cage or home.

A Few Chinchilla Facts I Discovered

Recently, I found some interesting facts about chinchillas and would like to share them on here. I figured that chinchillas are very adaptive when it comes to sleep and can sleep in the tiniest of holes, crevices or spaces. Other than that, whenever they get frightened, chinchillas release a patch of fur, mainly to escape the grasp of a predator. The hair grows back after sometime.

Being devoid of dander, one of the leading causes of pet-related allergies, chinchillas are preferred as pets. In the wild, chinchillas often live in groups that carry up to 100 members. They are highly social animals and can ‘die’ of boredom. In the wild, the predators of chinchillas include birds of prey, felines, skunks, snakes and canines.

Other than that, I've come to realize that chinchillas are prone to dental disease, especially if they do not have a proper diet. Chinchillas have a similar hearing range to that of the humans. They can hear the same tones and pitches as us, although their ears are a lot more sensitive. This little creatures also have 20 hypsodontic teeth! The basic four things chinchillas need are playgrounds, playmates, housing and food. They are very social and these are basically everything a kid needs, or even an adult human for that matter.

Chins are very social by nature, they are also very active, if your chin doesn’t move enough, doesn’t have toys to chew on and ramps to climb and jump on she will slow down her metabolism, eat less, lose fur even and basically she will not have her natural habitat, and in order to make their life span longer you need to replicate everything you can from their natural habitat. If you slow them down you are shortening their life, literally.

What Makes Chinchilla An Adorable Pet?

Chinchillas are generally ladies-friendly. As it were, men don't generally like them. Not as in detesting this creature yet they have a tendency to bashful far from getting a little creature as their pet. Anyhow as I would like to think, chinchillas are worth the trouble. My experience began when I initially attempted to get a chinchilla for my girlfriend, however, wound up purchasing another the one day from now. The motivation behind why I like it is a direct result of the cushiness of its hide. The hide is extremely thick and chinchillas are clean creatures. They can undoubtedly be dealt with in the matter of cleanliness. Then again, you must be exceptionally cautious of its digestive framework.

Chinchillas are named after the Chincha tribe of the Andes, who were known for wearing its hide previously. Chinchilla is the name of a crepuscular rat, which is local to the Andes Mountains in South America. A bit bigger in size than the ground squirrels, the rat has a place with family Chinchillidae, alongside viscachas.

The term 'chinchilla', signifying 'Little Chinta', has been inferred from a South American Indian tribe. Of the two types of Chinchilla, Lanigera is the particular case that is basically found in the domesticated and pelt scenes. Chinchillas might be named nighttime animals, which love to rest throughout the day and are dynamic during the evening. One of the interesting qualities of the rodents is that they develop teeth very nearly consistently, all through their lifetime. I will attempt to rundown down a couple of steps on how you can get one, fare thee well one, encourage one and make it joyful.

Where To Buy Chinchillas? Furthermore How Can I Decide Which Chinchilla Is Good For Me?

Pet shops are the most exceedingly terrible spot to get a chinchilla. Sadly, pet stores are all hands on deck to make a benefit - not to furnish you with an amicable, sound pet. Chinchilla identities are dead set throughout their first month of age. They have to be taken care of and petted regularly after they are conceived or they will grow up restless and forceful. A perfect age to buy your chinchilla is 10 weeks of age. On the off chance that conceivable, check both the folks and the youth for issues before you get joined to a Chinchilla.

Be wary of watery or pale eyes, dribbling (tooth arrangement issues), fleece pulling or missing territories of hide. I like to purchase straightforwardly from a reproducer I trust or one who readily supplies me with fulfilled contacts who have acquired her creatures.

A large portion of the issue creatures I see were acquired through pet stores. Regular issues I see in pet store acquired chinchillas are fleece pulling because of fatigue and push and malocclusion because of uncalled for eating methodology and heredity. Animosity is an issue in creatures not standardized to individuals at a junior enough age.
